Abstract

A non-linear turbulent hydrodynamic model was proposed by using the large eddy simulation approach and directional eddy viscosity method. The model was simplified and applied to the problem of a side discharge into open-channel flow, where a recirculation zone developed the downstream of discharge. The numerical results were compared with the experimental results and the previous numerical results obtained by using a k-ε model. The agreement is good.
