Abstract

This study explored how wearing a uniform impacts hotel employees’ service behaviors and attitudes in the context of Chinese cultural values. This study employed a qualitative research method. Twenty interviews were conducted and content analysis was used for data evaluation. It was found that Chinese hotel practitioners distinguished between differences in uniform diversification (color, style, and material) and how they understood the need for uniform apparel in the workplace. Importantly, this study established a meaningful connection between wearing uniforms and Chinese cultural values. This study provides valuable insights into the body of knowledge on Asian hospitality paradigms.
