Abstract
Broadband, compact in-fiber polarizers were fabricated using a pulsed CO2 laser to modify the air holes along one side of the hollow-core photonic bandgap fibers. The polarizers have lengths from 3 to 6 mm and exhibit a polarization extinction ratio of better than 20 dB over a wavelength range larger than 100 nm at approximately 1550 nm.
