Abstract
Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and histological examinations were used for ultrastructural analysis of heterotopic osteogenesis in porous calcium phosphate (CP) ceramics. Ultrastructural features were revealed at the interfaces between porous CP implants and new formed bone in muscle site of animal models. Fine acicular crystals which were less than 100 nm in length were formed in the tricalcium phosphate (TCP) surfaces.
