Highly-efficient, ultra-broadband and polarization insensitive graphene-silicon based electro-absorption modulator

Abstract

We propose a highly-efficient, ultra-broadband and polarization-insensitive electro-absorption modulator based on a multilayer graphene-silicon waveguide. A modulation efficiency of ∼2.21 dB/um is obtained for both polarizations within a bandwidth covering from E to U bands.
