Abstract
The performance of the macro-defect-free cement for refractory purposes when compared to the normal fired cast cement has been studied. Results show that much improvement in strength after firing is achieved through the close packed green body of the macro-defect-free system, showing improved microstructure after firing. Further increase in strength can be achieved by using the very fine and active particles resulting from the dehydration of the hydration products of the normal aluminous cement to form the initial green body.
