Abstract

Electric vehicle (EV) is one of the ways in reducing the air pollution in urban areas. Encouraging charging EVs at night will improve the loading factor of power systems. EV batteries can also be regarded as an energy reservoir of surplus energy without extra investment. However, harmonic current drawn by EV chargers may have impacts on the equipment of the power system. This paper is a case study of harmonic load flow of currents drawn by a group of EV chargers, the aim is to describe the study approach and to determine the level of impact of the harmonics generated.
