Abstract

This paper provides a literature review of the adoption of Green information technology (IT) to facilitate future research. The discussion focuses on the status of information systems literature on Green IT and on a review of theoretical frameworks used to investigate Green IT adoption. These theoretical frameworks are classified according to their purposes. The antecedents of Green IT adoption are reviewed and classified based on the technology-organization-environment theory.
