Abstract
A dual-polarisation distributed Bragg reflector (DBR) fibre laser sensor for measurement of transverse load is demonstrated by measuring beat frequency of the two orthogonal polarisation modes of the laser output. An orientation-dependent load sensitivity of up to 4.07MHz/Nm-1 has been achieved.
