Abstract

This chapter introduces the definition of Poisson's ratio and briefly discusses the role of different structures and geometries (re-entrant, rotating geometry, nodule based, chiral-based, foldable) for achieving negative Poisson's ratio. Different types of auxetic polymer fibers and materials are briefly introduced. The potential applications of auxetic textiles are summarized at last.
