Abstract
We report an all-fiber depolarizer that uses high-birefringence fibers with birefringence modulation. The device can be used to depolarize coherent light from sources such as single-mode and multimode lasers. Experiments with a He–Ne laser demonstrated a reduction in the degree of polarization from 1 (0 dB) to –212 dB.
