Abstract

This paper presents a preliminary experimental investigation on the fatigue behavior of composite T-joint consisted of circular Concrete-Filled Double-Skin Steel Tubular (CFDST) chord and Circular Hollow Section (CHS) brace. The brace was subjected to repeating cyclic tension during the test. The test parameters include the load range, the chord to brace diameter ratio and the hollow ratio of the cross section. The development of cracks and the degradation of joint stiffness are also monitored. It is found that the sandwiched concrete constrains the deformation around the connection zone. Steel cracks usually initiate between the saddle and the crown points of the composite joint.
