Fast minimum distortion encoding algorithms for vector quantization of images

Abstract

Two fast minimum distortion encoding algorithms are proposed for vector quantization of images in this paper. Compared with several existing VQ encoding algorithms, the proposed algorithms not only require the least number of computations but also reduce the bit-rate required by the system.
