Fabrication and laser action of nanostructual ZnO

Based on a brief review on nanostractual ZnO, the talk will be focus on our recent researches on ZnO nanostructures and lasering actions. Controlling the growth conditions, various novel morphologies of nanostructural ZnO, such as nanodisks, aligned and symmetric whiskers and mirco/nanotubes have be fabricated by vapor-phase transport method based on vaporliquid-solid mechanism. Amplified spontaneous emission and laser in UV range have been observed in some aligned arrays. The amplification and resonant behaviors will be analyzed in random, Fabry-Perot, and whispering gallery microcavitics.
