Abstract

This paper attempts to extract tongue cracks, one of pathological features in tongue diagnosis. A detection scheme is proposed to extract tongue cracks. This scheme is based on the wide line detector which extracts the whole of the line by employing an isotropic nonlinear filter. The wide line detector is improved based on the properties of tongue cracks. The proposed scheme has been tested on a total of 286 cracked tongue images and our experimental results demonstrate its effectiveness.
