Abstract

This review employed network analysis to systematically examine 92 journal articles supported by VOSviewer, with the goal of bibliographically analysing and identifying the external researched themes influencing the development of low-cost carriers in the Asia-Pacific region. The analysis revealed that the development of LCCs in the Asia-Pacific region is predominantly influenced by 54 researched themes, categorised under 12 major themes. Among these themes, the most extensively researched were “aviation-related regulations, policies, and laws”, “airports' infrastructure, capacity, and operations”, “market conditions”, “passenger factors”, and “competitive aviation market”. Furthermore, this study proposed potential research directions and areas to guide future academic investigations and inform policy and decision-making with respect to the LCCs’ future development and operations.
