Abstract

To improve the performance of ammonia absorption in ammonia-water absorption refrigerator. The magnetic field was applied to the absorbent solution. The variations of the viscosity and heat conductivity of magnetized ammonia-water were studied experimentally. Micro mechanism of effect on the two variables by magnetic field was discussed. The viscosity and heat conductivity of magnetized ammonia-water with magnetizing duration of 10 to 30 minutes were measured by the method of Engler viscosity measurement and transient double wire measurement respectively. The magnetic field current is from 0 to 10A and the corresponding magnetizing intensity is from 132.64mT to 261.35mT. The results show that the viscosity of ammonia-water solution decreased after magnetization. When the magnetic field was stronger and the magnetizing duration was longer, the decrease in viscosity was larger. The heat conductivity of ammonia-water solution after magnetizing increased with the prolonging of magnetizing duration and the increase in magnetic intensity. It was not helpful to increase the heat conductivity of ammonia-water by increasing the magnetizing intensity and magnetizing duration unlimited. In the experimental conditions of present study, when the magnetizing current was 8 A and the magnetizing duration was 30min, the increase on heat conductivity reached largest by 16.6 percent. Lorentz force and the breaking among hydrogen bonds in microstructure may contribute to the variations of physical properties of magnetized solution.
