Abstract

A model of multi-winding high-voltage transformer is presented, which takes into account effects of leakage transformer, winding resistance and parasitic capacitance. The modeling method and the parameter determination procedure are applicable to all kinds of transformers. Using an LCR meter, all parameters, except the parasitic capacitance, can be determined from taking port impedance measurements. The parasitic capacitance can be calculated by considering the resonant circuit equations. Finally, the modeling approach and the parameter determination procedure have been illustrated experimentally with a 60 W 35 kHz high-voltage transformer. The port impedance simulations and measurements show good consistency in a wide frequency range from 10 kHz to 200 kHz.
