Evidence-based practice in occupational therapy

Research output: Chapter in book / Conference proceeding › Chapter in an edited book (as author) › Academic research › peer-review

Abstract

This chapter begins with a review of the definition and development of evidence-based practice (EBP), then outlines the evidence-based interventions in occupational therapy (OT), and finally makes recommendations for enhancing and strengthening research in OT. There is often confusion as to how existing research data and findings should be interpreted and applied in clinical practice. This chapter also attempts to help readers consume and interpret research data and literature with a view to them evaluating the effectiveness of treatments and interventions in order to select the most appropriate EBP for their clinical application. The chapter concludes with a summary of how to use the knowledge as a practical guide to EBP.
