Abstract

A simple quasistatic crack propagation technique is described which is conveniently used for the evaluation of fracture resistances of metals as embrittled by liquid-metals. Examples given are cast iron, zinc alloy, and alpha-brass immersed in a 0. 1 molar mecurous nitrate solution. The advantages and disadvantages of the quasistatic graphical analysis are also discussed.
