Abstract
A simple model is proposed to calculate the air temperature in a compartmental fire with forced ventilation. The model is based on the mixing process in displacement ventilation theory. This is reasonable as the air intake rate in a forced ventilation chamber can be fixed at a certain value. Expressions for the hot air temperature are derived by considering the cases with and without a plume region. Experimental studies in a small chamber with forced ventilation were performed to verify the predicted results.
