Abstract
Using multiple channels to broadcast a popular video can reduce the viewer's waiting time to approach video-on. demand service. In this paper, we discuss the major weakness of Mirrored-Pyramid Broadcasting (MPB) scheme and propose an enhanced scheme. The performance study shows that in the enhanced scheme, up to 50% of network bandwidth can be saved for the same performance in MPB. Our enhanced scheme also achieves a better access latency and a smaller buffer requirement in the video-on-demand service under the same resource requirements.
