Abstract
A simple technique for tunable microwave frequency generation based on a compact dual-polarization fiber grating laser incorporated with a piezoelectric transducer (PZT) is demonstrated. The PZT exerts a transversal force to the fiber grating laser which changes the fiber birefringence and, therefore, the wavelength separation between the two polarization lines. The beat tone frequency changes linearly in response to the driving voltage applied to the PZT.
