Abstract

We have demonstrated that a single-mode fibre, LED based wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) system, using dielectric thin-film multilayer interference filters, performs satisfactorily, even when subjected to temperatures ranging from -40°C to 80°C, without temperature stabilisation. This system therefore appears attractive for applications in the subscriber loop.
