Abstract

A study was conducted on the Nb effects on the piezoelectric and pyroelectric properties of sol-gel-derived PZT films. The optimum Nb concentration for improving the piezoelectric and pyroelectric properties was about 2 mol%. The observed d33,cand e31,cwere found to agree well with the theoretical values calculated using the material parametes of PZT bulk ceramics with similar compositions and Nb concentrations. This reveals that the Nb dopant have similar effects on the sol-gel-derived films and bulk ceramics, i.e., enhancing both the longitudinal and transverse piezoelectric properties.
