Abstract

UV uniform exposure can vary coupling characteristics of the annealed long-period gratings in hydrogen-loaded fiber. With the increase of UV exposure, the resonance wavelength shifts toward longer wavelength and resonance peak intensity increases first and then decreases. A theoretical explanation for this phenomenon was given. The transmission spectra of the grating after exposure of different number of UV pulses were presented. The resonance peak intensity and resonance wavelength of the grating with respect to UV pulse number were described.
