Abstract

In the process of China urbanization and industrialization, construction wastes are generated at an increasing rate and a huge amount of furnace bottom ash are generated in coal-fired power plants. Much attention is paid to the disposal these solid wastes in the process of sustainable development. In this study, the effect of aggregates, including recycled construction waste aggregate, furnace bottom ash, and stone powder, on the mechanical properties of environment-friendly block (en-block) was investigated systematically. The results indicated that the types of recycled aggregates had significant effect on the compressive strength of en-block. The compressive strength increased with the increasing content of the recycled concrete, and deceased evidently with the increasing content of brick. The compressive strength of en-block decreased with the increasing content of furnace bottom ash, and can be enhanced by stone powder.
