Abstract
The effect of reinforcement on surface generation in diamond turning of Al/SiC metal matrix composites is investigated. The surface generation is affected by the cut through and pulled out mechanisms in cutting the reinforcement. Better surface finish can be achieved with the use of whisker reinforcement and smaller volume fraction of SiC reinforcement.
