Abstract

This paper examines the effect of atmospheric pressure plasma (APP) treatment on surface hydrophobicity of imitation leather with 100 % polyurethane surface with organosilane precursor. Based on the APP treatment with precursor, a single-step surface process on imitation leather was achieved. The results showed that under a particular combination of treatment parameters, a hydrophobic surface is achieved on the APP treated sample. Other than water, coffee, milk, and tea were also used for evaluating the surface hydrophobicity of plasma treated imitation leather and both liquids achieved higher contact angle when compared with the untreated sample.
