Abstract

Low temperature plasma treatments have been applied to linen fabrics prior to enzyme treatments. The effects of using oxygen and argon plasma on the bulk fibre structure, fabric properties, surface morphology and properties have been investigated experimentally by a range of methods, before and after the enzyme treatment. The results detailed in this paper indicate that the effectiveness of enzyme treatment can be enhanced by the means of plasma pre-treatment.
