Abstract
There are several types of composite construction such as reinforced concrete (RC) sections, concrete-filled tubes (CFT), composite beams, floors and frames, steel-concrete-steel sandwich (SCSS) double skin panels and concrete-filled double skin tubes (CFDST). This paper focuses on CFDST. It gives the background, advantages and challenges of CFDST. The behaviour of such members subjected to static and dynamic loads are described. Future research in this area is pointed out.
