Abstract
The diffraction and refraction of multi-directional irregular waves through a breakwater gap into an harbor with flat bottom and a bottom slope of 1:50 were experimentally and numerically studied. Four sets of experiments, with principal wave directions of 90°, 75°, 60° and 45° were conducted. The experimental results were compared with numerical predictions obtained by solving the mild-slope equation with the finite element method.
