Abstract
A dynamic mathematical model has been developed for a VAV A/C (variable-air-volume air conditioning) system. The model was component-based, and fully took into consideration system's dynamic behaviors caused from the actions of VAV terminals and supply fan, the time lag of temperature sensor, etc. The dynamic model so developed is expected to be significantly useful when dealing with control issues for VAV A/C systems. On the other hand, a robust fuzzy control algorithm with modifying factor has been proposed for supply fan in the VAV A/C system; and a controllability test carried out using the dynamic system model. Results of the test showed that the control algorithm can achieve good control quality for supply air static pressure, which is critical for the successful implementation of the advanced scheme about static pressure resetting in VAV A/C systems.
