Abstract

In this paper, harmony search algorithm is employed to locate the critical failure surface in slope stability problems. The factors of safety of the potential slip surfaces are obtained by Morgenstern and Price methods and several published examples are analyzed using the proposed method. The results show that harmony search algorithm is easy to implement and has performed well in determining the global minimum in slope stability analysis.
