Abstract
This paper discusses the application of switched-current techniques to the implementation of median filters. A new switched-current element is introduced which has the ability to compare and toggle two signals. Using this new element and other basic constituents such as current mirrors and delay cells, a systolic algorithm can be implemented which performs the signal processing function of median filtering. Median filters implemented in this way enjoy all the inherent advantages of the current-mode circuit operation.
