Abstract
A new code structure for spectral amplitude optical code-division multiple-access is proposed. An upper bound on the code size is developed and an optimal construction that achieves this bound is presented. Further, a performance analysis of an optical CDMA system that utilizes this code is given. Our results reveal that such a new code can effectively suppress the intensity noise and in turn increase the number of the active users and improve the bit error rate performance.
