Abstract

A wireless electric vehicle energy network (WEVEN) can offer more functionalities and opportunities for the modern power grid while having high flexibility and reconfigurability. This paper proposes a novel WEVEN to collaborate with the distributed renewable energy network, electric power network, energy storage network, and other energy networks. Apart from transporting passengers, the mobility of electric vehicles is utilized to transmit electricity between cities or blocks. Wireless energy routers (WERs) can network EVs and encourage EVs to trade wireless energy packets at road junctions that are electrified into WERs by installing energy storage systems. To design and analyze the WEVEN and its WERs, the graph theory of network flows is used to optimize the energy storage system by minimizing the transmission loss and the need of energy capacity. Computational simulation and prototype experimentation are performed to verify the feasibility of the proposed WEVEN. The transmission efficiency of the whole WEVEN will be improved by using the hybrid storage systems comprising supercapacitors and batteries.
