N2 - To further enhance the output thrust force of the linear machine, a dual-sided variable-flux-switching linear machine (DS-VFS-LM) with toroidal-winding configuration is proposed. The main contribution of this paper is that the operation principle of the machine is designed as flux-switching machine with unbiased flux to further relieve the saturation issue and improve output force capability. With special slot-pole combination and winding configuration design, it is proved that the output thrust performance of the machine is effectively enhanced, whose thrust density reach 150kN/m3, which is a relatively high value in terms of variable flux linear reluctance machine.
