Dependency of densification properties on cell topology of metal foams

An analytical model is developed to describe the densification properties of metal foams with low relative density. A linear relationship between densification strain and relative density is obtained for closed-cell foams, and the relationship for open-cell foams follows a power law. The experimental results are in good agreement with the model.
