Abstract
Financial tsunami is a current global crisis, and has been devastatingly impacting on the global economies since it started in the U.S. Due to its influences on areas ranging from economics to the health quality of the public, proper crisis management is imperative. Over the years, though financial measures to cope with the recession have been widely discussed in the commercial, public and political sectors, little discussion has been made from the social work perspective. In this chapter, we are going to explore potential health links between the tsunami and individuals in the society, and ponder its implications on social work practices for the victims so that more holistic care can be provided to those suffering from the economic depression.
