Abstract
Quasi-static cracking experiments under a series of constant loads were made on Outwater type sheet glass testpieces in water. The strain energy release rate was determined as a function of crack speed. In a separate set of experiments the load was cycled from zero to maximum with triangular wave form. It was found that the crack increment per cycle could be predicted by integrating crack growth rates.
