Abstract

Herein, we develop a method for synthesising 1,2,4-oxadiazole derivatives via the [3 + 2] cyclisation of aldoximes with amidines. Using different types of copper catalysts and temperature modulation are crucial for the selective production of 1,2,4-oxadiazole or 1,3,5-triazine derivatives. This method requires readily available materials and offers operational simplicity, a broad substrate scope and environmental friendliness, with gram-scale experiments confirming its applicability.
