Abstract

In this paper, we review a recently developed problem transformation called control parametrization enhancing transform (CPET) for time optimal control and optimal three-valued control problems. Under CPET, the switching times of the control of a time optimal control problem, for which their locations are not known in advance, are mapped on to a set of fixed knots in a new time scale. Moreover, under CPET, optimal three-valued control problems are shown to be equivalent to optimal control problems involving a new control function which is piecewise constant with pre-fixed switching points. Hence, both transformed problems can be readily solved by the classical control parametrization technique. For illustration, numerical examples are included.
