Abstract

The paper examines the contactless power conversion using the contactless power transformer. The primary and secondary sides of the transformer are separated by a large air-gap and hence the power transfer can be obtained without physical contact. The characteristics of the gapped transformer, the compensation methodology and PLL control for the converter are investigated. Experimental results using the contactless power converter are presented. A resonant converter method is used that can realized the high leakage imposed in the transformer.
