Abstract
The flow stress behavior of 6111 aluminum alloy was studies on Gleeble-1500 thermal-mechanical simulator, over a range of temperature 350°C~550°C and strain rate 0.01s-1~10s-1. The results demonstrated that 6111 aluminum alloy is a positive-strain-rate sensitive material. The tensile strength decreased as temperature became higher; the hot deformation behavior exhibited strain-hardening to a steady-state and the softening mechanism was mainly controlled by dynamic recovery. The constitutive equation of 6111 aluminum alloy was established using Zener-Hollomon parameter, which could be used in simulating the hot forming process under the prevailing loading conditions.
