Abstract

The paper is concerned with an investigation of an unusual circuit that can be used for DC to DC conversion, with conversion frequencies in the region of 1 MHz. It consists of two quasiresonant circuits in cascade. The special feature of the circuit is that the control and regulation techniques for it take place at constant frequency. An analysis of the idealised circuit is presented, and characteristics such as conversion ratio and component stress are discussed. A design procedure is also proposed. Computer simulation results provide extra detail about circuit behaviour, especially with regard to losses.
