Abstract

A 3D finite element model of the human ankle-foot, considering the bony and soft tissues structures is developed to study the biomechanical interaction between the foot and insole. The developed computational model can serve as a systematic tool to evaluate the functional outcomes of different insole or footwear designs without the prerequisites of replicating subject trials, experimental and product testing.
