Abstract
In order to compute the electromagnetic force between two objects touching each other, an additional shell element is proposed and a simple method to determine the additional shell elements on the interface between volume integration and surface integration is also presented. A general formulation of nodal virtual work electromagnetic force computation between two objects touching each other for three-dimensional (3D) finite element analysis was presented. The T-Ω formulation and the Jacobian matrix were deduced and the implementation methodology was presented. An example with analytical solutions is used to verify the computed results.
