Abstract

Described are compressive strength models that have been developed for FRP confined concrete based tests on FRP confined circular concrete specimens. As these models, however, are not directly applicable to FRP specific models, it will be necessary to establish specific models that take into account the effect of sectional shape of the concrete column. The paper first reviews two existing compressive strength models for FRP confined concrete in rectangular columns. The models are then compared with test data available in the published literature and also with data from a recent study. The paper proposes a new compressive strength model which is shown to compare well with both sets of test data.
