Abstract
This paper reports a comparative study of using four insulation schemes to reduce natural convective heat transfer in two-dimensional rectangular enclosures. The SIMPLER algorithm was used to solve the equations governing heat and fluid flow in the enclosures. Reduction in heat transfer was determined for a wide range of conditions and the effectiveness of the different insulation schemes was established.
